As a designer, I was tasked with creating a show about dark humor memes. I knew I had to be careful with this topic since it can be sensitive, but at the same time, it can be hilarious if done correctly.
I started my research by looking at popular dark humor memes and what made them so funny. Some of the memes were centered around taboo topics such as death, mental health, and disabilities, but they were presented in a humorous way that made people laugh and feel better about their situation.
The challenge was to create a show that showcased these memes but also respected those who might be offended by them. I decided to create 8 different images that would showcase some of the most popular and hilarious dark humor memes.
The first image I created was a meme about procrastination. It showed a picture of a person laying on their bed, looking lazy and tired. The text read, "I'll stop procrastinating tomorrow."
The second image was about depression. It showed a person looking very sad and unhappy, while the text read, "I'm not feeling myself today...maybe that's a good thing."
In the third image,
I decided to showcase a meme about dark humor itself. It showed a picture of a person laughing hysterically at a joke, with the text reading, "Dark humor is like food. Not everyone gets it."
The fourth image was a meme about anxiety. It showed a person looking worried and anxious, with the text reading, "I'm not great at the advice. Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?"
The fifth image was about body shaming. It showed a person with a bigger body size, with the text reading, "When someone calls me fat, I just laugh and say 'I'm saving my curves for someone who cares.'"
The sixth image was about disabilities. It showed a wheelchair user looking at a flight of stairs, with the text reading, "I don't always need a ramp, but when I do, it's never there."
In the seventh image, I decided to showcase a meme about alcoholism. It showed a person holding a beer can with the text reading, "I'm not an alcoholic. I'm a weekend enthusiast."
Finally, in the eighth image, I showcased a meme about social anxiety. It showed a person standing in front of a group of people, looking very nervous, with the text reading, "I always feel like I'm walking into a situation blindfolded. And I'm holding a white cane."
Overall, my show about dark humor memes was a success. The images were carefully crafted to showcase the humorous side of dark humor while still being respectful of those who might be sensitive to such topics.
